Feed Me a Taco

She just wants to share... and he loves to open his mouth like a little bird.

Evan thinks Sunday is the best day of the week.

Can't quite stay sitting up yet. Maybe tommorrow.

Look..she still likes him! He is better than a new toy.

We decided to make our own taco shells. Microwave them till they are warm, spray them with cooking spray, throw them in the oven. Don't forget about them (like we did and burned the whole first batch).

We read about doing this here.

Easy, cheaper than dirt, and tasty.

Too bad that jaw breaker sucker doesn't fit in your mouth. Too bad that sucker belongs to Clarice and not you. Too bad when Clarice sees you with that....she is going to want it back!

Oh Hailey, why are you burying that dog with dolls?

Now if this only happened when I felt like taking a nap.

Made peanut butter fudge with honey instead of regular sugar.  This pan lasted 2 days. Recipe here.

Went to see my sister get her academic jacket. I didn't want to sit with the kids for 2 hours so we showed up at the end of the program when it was Gillian's turn.

Except when we got there we had already missed Gillian's turn.

And when we walked in Hailey was yelling out Gillian's name super loud. Glad we could slip in quitely!

And this one... I never get tired of that smile. (And no, my kids aren't happy all the time.... if you could only hear all the crying that goes on in one day).

How to throw a wild party when your parents are out of town

Tired of being the bishop?  It's ok. Just run away. Actually my dad is in Monterey while he takes some continuing ed classes to keep up his optometry license.  Then he gets a few days of fun with my mom. Yesterday they went kayaking. Today they are off to the aquarium. We are watching my sisters and the puppies in the meantime.

We thought we should have a party.

Must get ready for our special mystery guests to arrive. . .

There are a lot of people living in this world. Some are smart and some sure aren't. Ever notice that some of those not-so-smart people think they look so cool when they are doing not-so-smart activities? Yep, the joke's on them. Remember how someone thought it would be cool to recycle their fermented fruit into drinks? Sorry to burst your bubble... it's never been cool to drink moldy fruit. It's not cool to be a boozer. I personally know too many people who have destroyed their lives and their families' lives by drinking.  Don't be the weak link. Be smart don't drink!

I recently was talking to Hailey about how we don't eat trash or things that are not good for our bodies. Just because something is in a pretty bottle doesn't mean it's good for you. And if something smells bad... that should be your first clue... don't put it in your mouth!

For dinner we had mashed potato meat loaf muffins.

We also had green bean casserole and stuffing.

Looky looky: our guests of honor, the life of the party showed up! The best part is that becuase the missionaries have a curfew you know that they can't stay late. Win win situation.

Even Evan got a tiny bite of mashed potatoes... actually several bites... even though he is not supposed to be eating people food yet.

10:00 p.m. = bedtime for the night owls.

Around and About

Judy has the magic touch and Evan is quite taken with her too.

My sister Kendra, that is too cool for the rest of us, left today for Thailand for 3 weeks with her BYU professor and two other students to do research and go to a conference. Hope the pad thai is wonderful!

A friendly rat has been living in Hailey's hair for the last year.

It's unbelievable how much detangler we use on a daily basis.

It was so cold (59 degrees) his feet turned purple this morning. Time to turn the heater on...

before he gets frozen like this!

Evan Turns 4 Months Old on Election Day!

Today Evan is 4 months old!

We weighed him so we could fill in his baby calendar.
He weighs 17.4 pounds.
Hailey weighs 27.4 pounds.

Politics are always a hot topic at my parents' house. Lots of people with different opinions.

My mother has definitely instilled in all of us the importance of voting and taking a stand.  I know my vote makes a difference.

This country gives people more rights than any other country. So glad my children can grow up in America the greatest of all countries.

Another Day

We had a contest to see who could build a higher tower.

That turned into flying blocks.

I am convinced she was a ballerina in the pre-existence.

Wondering what she should do next. . .

Why does she crawl around meowing and purring like a cat? (This happens quite often)

Today we made mini cupcakes. One dish to take to the birthday people at my parents' house. One  dish for Steve who wasn't going to get any birthday cupcakes beccause he had to work late into the night.

And we still had 3 plates left to share with the neighbors we like.

Too bad they never fall alseep at the same time.

Instead of cleaning up that massive pile of food under my dining room table, or cleaning that giant mess in my kitchen, or finishing that load of laundry I started 8 hours ago, or picking up one of the gazillion toys all over the floor in every room of this house I played jump out from under the chair until Evan tired of laughing his head off. Totally worth it.

His hair's fuzzy like a little chick.

Hailey thought it was her birthday and kept trying to blow out the candles.

Evan Laughing

We love making Evan laugh. He's such a happy little guy.

Lots of Smiles

I love the changing colors on the liquid amber trees in my parents' yard. Hailey and I are going to press a bunch of leaves just for fun.

He was quite happy to watch me wash the dishes the other night.

Don't you love the cute double chin and happy grin?

She wanted to pick an apple off our tree and was particular about which one she wanted.

Thrilled to be outside.

My sister called and said they were coming over with a surprise.

The surprise was a little puppy my sister Gillian is house-sitting.

His name is Vader.

Hailey loves animals. Hailey and Evan both seem to have allergies, and have both had allergic reactions to things. The pediatrician won't test them until they are older, but with my history of bad animal allergies we try to be careful. Even though Vader is hypoallergenic the kids still had to get scrubbed down afterwards.

Who is more excited?

I can't get over how smiley he is sometimes.

She found crayons at my parents' house and decided to carry them around in her sweater pockets....so funny.
