Rainy Birthday Weekend

We gave Hailey several ideas of things we could do for her birthday. She didn't like any of our ideas.... in fact all she wanted to do was go to the park. And then it rained pretty much all day on her birthday.  The rain stopped just long enough to walk to the donut shop... and then we walked home in the rain.

Happy 4th Birthday!

Eating birthday donuts.

Evan loves the rain. He and Steve went outside to play and came back completely soaked an hour later.

Birds of a feather stick together.

In the afternoon we headed down to Barnes and Noble to pick up a free birthday cupcake.

Evan was quite sad when he didn't think Hailey would share.

Good thing that was short lived.

Got a birthday game all the way from Lotte in Arizonia.

Blowing out her birthday candles on our German Waldorf birthday ring. Hailey insisted she needed birthday flowers... specifically red roses... she said "for love."

A gift from Mom and Dad.

 A new tea set.

A new Cinderella dress from Grandma and Papa Ashcraft.

A gift from Evan.

A horse for her doll.

Even though it rained we had a great day.

Saturday it rained most of the day. We tried to head down to the Skirball Jewish Cultural Center to see the massive Noah's Ark children's exhibit. And after a long drive down there we found out the tickets were all sold out. Hailey was sad. She cried.

We found a random park to stop at on the way home, but we weren't there for very long. And then it rained harder than I have seen it rain in a long time.

Fresh out of the tub reading about trucks and cars.

The crazy rain.

Sunday we got together with the McClellans to celebrate Hailey's birthday.

Nana made the coolest Frozen themed cake! Hailey loves Hans the best.

A great big box from Nana and Papa.

What did Papa build Hailey???

A horse stable! Don't you wish you could be 4 again?

One room for the horse and one for Evan.... he has moved in to keep company.

The kids had a great time hanging out with their cousins!

The weekend

Coloring outside.

Drawing with chalk.

What would we do without some balls to kick around?

Steve really wanted to see the Lego Movie... me not so much. He took the small ones to keep him company.

Having some cheerios before Church.

Finishing off a homemade popsicle.

I like to tell my kids I am not the maid. Hailey likes to clean..... she definitely gets that from me. Just another reason I really love small houses. No matter how you dice it a smaller house is less housework freeing up time for things you actually want to do.

The 3 main things that things that I always try to stay on top of are: piles of dirty dishes, piles of laundry, things strewn  all over the floor (usually toys). I find I am turning into a minimalist... the less stuff we own the easier it is to keep things clean. And when things are clean and organized I am much more relaxed and in a better mood.  It is strange but when the house is cluttered my mind automatically becomes cluttered to.

The bees don't seem to mind that the flowers have been picked.
