Happy Halloween

At school for the Halloween Parade. We got a letter asking parents not to dress the kids like "hookers or pimps".

The kids dress  up as their favorite characters from books, then bring their books to show off  in their parade walk. That way kids who don't celebrate Halloween can still dress up and participate.

Evan found a butterfly...but she is not going to let him catch her.

The kids trick or treated my parents block...maybe less than 10  houses. Then we went to a friends party where they made homemade doughnuts.

I love seeing these three interact.

The night we ate mush for dinner

While we were out picking up groceries Evan smacked his head on the cart and it turned into a complete meltdown. After the screaming continued, when he was clearly ok, I told him he had to calm down or we were going to put the food back and go home empty handed. I will not shop with screaming kids. I don't want to listen to it and neither does anyone else in the store. Evan  must have asked me 20 times later in the day if we could go back to the store. Absolutely not! No treats for lunch. Too bad. No snacks for joy school. Too bad. No bread or milk. Too bad. The most disgusting dinner we have ever ate. Too bad.  Hopefully the next time to we go to the store we won't have this problem.

As if that wasn't bad enough in the short span of twenty minutes I cleaned up spilled milk.

Cleaned up raw egg of the floor.

And tried to sooth James after Evan dropped him on the floor.

I was hoping to get a good deal on a Staub cast iron dutch oven on Black Friday. I just happened to see  dutch ovens in TJMax for half cost and we had a gift card to use even better.

The first thing we made in it was french onion soup.

Ward Primary Program

Well only one of my children decided to pick his nose and eat his boogers while standing in front of the whole ward during the primary program. And only one of my children decided to hold his hands up to his lips like he was a bunny making munching sounds during his part.

Picking out pumpkin seeds.

Time to carve.

Watching a little Hocus Pocus.

Evan wanted a ghost pumpkin.

Hailey wanted a castle pumpkin.

Someone needs a haircut.

I love catching these two reading books.

Leaving School Early

Oh, I really want one of those!

All I have to do is reach over and grab it.

So close and far away  at the same time.

When I dropped Evan off at joy school one of the mothers asked me  if I put sunscreen on Hailey because the school was going to have a fire/earthquake drill and sit the kids on the blacktop for at least a hour and it was 97 degrees outside.  This mother laughed and said she should pull her kids out out school as they already had a shortened day for parent conferences. And that is exactly what I decided to do.

Here is a snippet of my conversation with the office.

"I am here to pick up Hailey. Does she have a doctors appointment? No. What is the reason you are picking her up?  I don't want her sitting outside on the blacktop in the heat. How long is your drill? more than an  hour? Yes. Nope, I will just take her with me. Are you bringing her back? Not today." You should have seen the look on their faces.

Robin Hood

James's first time riding the train at the farmers market.

There are 6 kids in Evan's little joy school group.

You only get a churro at Costco if you have teeth,

Just letting the kids run free outside makes them so happy.

A great day spent at the children's theater seeing Robin Hood.  Steve's parents got us season tickets for Christmas last year  and it has been so fun to go though out the year.
