Lego Challenge: The Big-Eyed Monster

Today's build challenge is the Big-Eyed Monster as we talked about too much screen time.

James' has one big eye that takes everything in.

Hailey's is one big head with eyes and mouth wide open.

Evan's monster sure looks like he's having a good time.

Lego Challenge: The Meanie

The boys were building some Minecraft Lego sets the other day.

Aubrey wanted to help.

So Lego has some build activities and discussion topics with kids so we did one today.

Today we built the Meanie and talked about online bullying.

Let the building commence.

And time's up. Let's see everyone's build.

He sure looks mean.

Nice little angry face on this one from Evan.

James' meanie with wings.

Really nice build from Hailey.

First Day of School 2021

Summer's over. Time for school to begin.

What a good, looking group right there.

Our 6th grader, off to middle school.

4th grade.

Our new Kindergartener.

We can't go on campus due to Covid protocols so we told Evan to show James where to go.

Unfortunately they were separating the students by grade so Evan couldn't walk with James. He got where he needed to go and had a great day though.

Portland Trip Day 8: Heading Home

Before our flight this afternoon we drove through Portland and visited this nice playground.

Portland looked much different than it had during our last visit 4 years ago. Much scarier.

Downtown looked pretty empty: a lot of buildings closed, boarded up, even destroyed.

The rioters and occupiers (of Portland's “Autonomous Zone”) really left the city in a bad state.

I'm glad we didn't plan to spend any time in the city; it really does not seem friendly to visitors.

The playground we went to was super fun, though.

Covid is still around and masks are required around other people so we kept our masks with us.

The kids got to run around and play and have a great time.

Well it's been a nice trip as a family. Nice to have Nana with us too.

After the playground we were off to the airport to fly home.

The kids were so good on the flight.

Nice view of the clouds from our seats.
