Broken Wrist on Christmas Eve

With Jennifer and Rob, Jason, Kelley, and Allen here for Christmas we came up to Mom's yesterday.  While playing soccer with her cousins in the backyard Hailey got knocked down and was hysterical about her arm hurting.

Even though others thought Hailey was just overreacting she was genuinely hurt so we left.  I dropped the others off at our hotel room (too many people staying at Mom's) and took her to Urgent Care.  Well, her wrist is broken: a fracture at the end of her radius.  They put her in a brace 'till we can get her an orthopedic appointment for a cast.

It's an Allen boy!

James was jealous of Allen's little camera.  He kept wanting to take it and play with it.

Jennifer revamped one of Dad's Christmas games.  We all gathered so she could read the story of Santa's elves hiding their own gifts for the kids on this Christmas Eve.

The story contains photo clues leading the kids to the goodies.

And they're off!

James found one!

All around the house the kids found little envelopes full of coins.

They had to work together as a group per the story's instructions.

They did a great job working together and sharing their money.

And then it was present time.

James loves having his own little tools.

New bow and arrow set for Evan.

Evan and Sean sequestered themselves away to build all their new Lego sets.

Sometimes the other kids would go in there and play with the new sets (and then get kicked out when Evan found them).

It was nice spending time with the whole family.

Day 2: Coming Home

Today the nurses had all the tests to run. Poor guy had his shots, got his heel pricked for the blood tests, and was circumcised. No wonder he's looking over his shoulder.

The nurse left at 12:00 to bring lunch; she didn't come back for 2 hours! We were starving!

Poor Evan screamed for 35 minutes the first time they tried to do his hearing test.

The second time Daddy held him and he was much calmer; the test only lasted a few minutes.

Those tests really wiped him out.

Such tiny little fingers.

Now with all the tests done it's time to head home.

Evan is all settled in his own bed.

Finally Hailey calmed down and went to sleep. That makes two kids asleep in thier own beds. So far so good.

Welcome Baby Evan

Last night we headed to Kaiser because Jeni's amniotic fluid had been leaking throughout the day. So once I came home from work (and a Missionary Correlation meeting at 8pm) we headed to the hospital and got her checked out. Diagnosis: time for the baby to come out.

Evan Christopher McClellan was born this morning at 10:28am.
8 lb. 3 oz.
18.5 in.

The oxytocin really kicked in this morning and Evan was ready to come out sooner than we thought. We just wanted to wait until the Grandmas were on their way.

The Ashcrafts brought Hailey over today so she could meet Evan for the first time. Sometimes she was excited to see the baby; at other times she just wanted to run around and explore.

A happy Papa with our little guy.

And here's the whole family. We're all pretty excited to have Evan in our family.

The first thing we noticed was, of course, his dark hair that he got from Mama. What a cutie. Otherwise he looks alot like Hailey.

He's such a good little boy. He sleeps alot and nurses alot. He has a really strong sucking reflex, just like when Hailey was a baby.

We've been awaiting Evan for so long and now he's finally here. It's so good to have you as part of our family, Evan.

The birth and delivery went smoothly and both mother and son are healthy and trying to get some rest.

Day 3: Leaving the Hospital and Coming Home

Here's our little family

Look what I made!!! (...my wife helped...)

I just love her little feet
Hailey had to get pricked on her heel for the PKU test and for a more extensive jaundice test. It hurt her quite a bit to get the blood squeezed out but she's such a trooper.

Can I keep her?

Welcome home Hailey!

Daddy says I'm his favorite

Story time!
